Refuge Workday This Weekend
Where: Red River National Wildlife Refuge
Headquarters Unit
555 Sunflower Road
Bossier City, LA 71112
When: Saturday, June 7, 2008
Time: 7:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
There are some minor and a couple of not-so-minor jobs to complete the renovation of the temporary office/visitor center at Headquarters. Tasks include painting, minor carpentry, lining kitchen drawers, reorganizing the pantry and kitchen closet, and yard maintenance; in other words, there's something for everyone. If you can come out and help, please contact Jerry Bertrand at 868-3255 or jeb1954@redriverrefugealliance.org
We'll have a potluck lunch at noon, so bring some food to share. Beverages, plates, napkins, and utensils will be provided.
Who we are
The Red River Refuge Alliance, Inc., is the Friends group for the Red River National Wildlife Refuge. Our mission is to be an advocate for the Red River National Wildlife Refuge by promoting and participating in the conservation, enhancement, and appreciation of our native wildlife communities through education, fund raising, development of partnerships, and development of onsite projects for volunteers.
Our vision is to develop the necessary support to assist the United States Fish and Wildlife Service with acquiring, restoring, and sustaining all the lands allowed by current legislation for the refuge and with developing these areas to maximize wildlife habitats.
We are a nongovernmental, nonprofit organization operating under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and a Memorandum of Agreement with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
We are an affiliate member of the National Wildlife Refuge Association.
