Bayou Pierre Native Plant Garden

Planting of the native plant garden at the Bayou Pierre unit has begun. There will be multiple workdays. Please contact Nancy Menasco if you can help in any way and for directions to Bayou Pierre.

The plant rescue site on Hwy 167 near Pollock, LA, has provided a multitude of plants for the gardens, thanks to several visits by Linda Chance, Steven Gabrey, and Denise Bonck; however, more are needed. The complete wish list is below; principal plants needed at this stage are trees and shrubs.

Also needed are various landscaping materials, such as mulch, black plastic, and either soaker hoses or drip irrigation system supplies. Five-gallon buckets would also be helpful. A chimney swift tower is planned for the site as well, so materials for the construction of the tower would be appreciated.

Contact Nancy for the complete list and specifications if you could donate any of these or have sources for donations.
