Red River National Wildlife Refuge Celebration
People's Choice Photo Contest
We welcome you as a participant in the photographic competition held on October 20, 2007, during the Red River National Wildlife Refuge Celebration. Red River Refuge Alliance, Inc., which cosponsors this event with the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that acts an advocate for the Red River National Wildlife Refuge by promoting and participating in the conservation, enhancement, and appreciation of our native wildlife communities through education, fund raising, development of partnerships, and development of onsite projects for volunteers.
CONTEST RULES
1. TIME OF CONTEST
- a. SUBMISSION DATE - All entries must be submitted during the Refuge Celebration or transmitted by email by 11:59 p.m., Thursday, October 25, 2007.
- b. VOTING DATES - Voting by the public on the Red River Refuge Alliance website will commence on Sunday, October 28, 2007, and end at 11:59 p.m. on November 30, 2007.
- c. PUBLICATION DATE - Winning entries will be published in the Winter 2008 issue of The Red River Raft, the newsletter of the Red River Refuge Alliance, and may be displayed on the Alliance website indefinitely, and may be displayed indefinitely at any unit of the Red River National Wildlife Refuge with credit given to the photographers.
2. ENTRANTS
- a. All photographers, whether amateur or professional, are eligible to enter.
- b. Age Categories
- i. Adult
- ii. Youth - 12-17 years old
- iii. Children - 12 years old or younger
3. SCOPE OF SUBJECT MATTER
All photographs must be taken on the Red River National Wildlife Refuge Headquarters Unit in Bossier City, Louisiana, during the Refuge Celebration on Saturday, October 20, 2007, and portray wildlife, people, scenery and/or circumstances found on the refuge.
4. SUBMISSIONS
Entries may be submitted in either of these two ways:
- a. During the Celebration, Mark Walker will be available between 2:00 and 3:00 p.m. in the Visitor Center to upload your photos to the computer.
- b. Email your photos as .jpg files to photocontest@redriverrefugealliance.org. Entries must be emailed no later than 11:59 on Thursday, October 25, 2007.
Each contestant is limited to three submissions per category.
5. JUDGING
Selection of winning entries will be made by public vote on the Red River Refuge Alliance, Inc., website at www.redriverrefugealliance.org. Voting will begin on Sunday, October 28, 2007, and end at 11:59 p.m. on November 30, 2007.
6. WINNING ENTRIES
Winning entries will be announced on December 4, 2007. Winners will be informed by e-mail or regular mail.
7. USE OF IMAGES
Red River Refuge Alliance, Inc., shall have the right without compensation to display and use all submissions for promotional and advertising use with appropriate credit being given to the photographer. You represent that your photographs are original and of your own creation, the display and use of the material will not violate the rights of any kind of third party, and you have provided all necessary permissions and releases. All may be displayed on the inclusion on the Red River Refuge Alliance, Inc., website, with credit being given the photographers.
8. DISCLAIMER.
Red River Refuge Alliance, Inc and the Red River National Wildlife Refuge and the persons involved in conducting this competition shall not be held responsible for loss of or damage to entries or for injuries while contestants are on the refuge complex. Contestants are expected and required to abide by refuge rules while on the premises of the refuge.
9. AWARDS.
Ribbons will be presented to the winning entries. on Friday, November 30, 2007.
